This popular website is gaining visitors every day. And if you are crafty, you can sell your items online, without the hassle of opening up your own web store.
If you can knit, sew, paint wood, carve, make greeting cards, make candles, make jewelry, or any other handicraft, you’ll want to check out Esty.com. It is an easy way to showcase your items, sell them online and even take new orders.
There are all sorts of categories from crafts, from clothing to home decor to personal items. You can post a photo and description, and the web site will even keep track of how many of your item are available in stock. Of course, since many handicrafts are one of a kind items, you can take custom orders, too.
And don’t forget to do your own shopping, too. On Esty.com, you can shop by many different ways. You can shop by category, such as woodworking or crochet, by color, or by a particular shop (a favorite seller).
There are also digital goods to buy and sell.
Signing up is free, and the fees are pretty reasonable. It cost 20 cents an item to list by quantity. So if you have 50 identical home made dresses to post, you will only be charged a listing fee of 20 cents. When your item sells, the site requires 3.5 percent of the purchase price. Buying an item is free, with the exception of the purchase price, of course.
As a seller, you can choose the payment method to accept, such as Paypal. While all fees are in U.S dollars, sellers come from all over the world, and a currency converter is in the works.
Forums are available for sellers to ask questions, discuss sales, share tips and more.
