Crazy 8s–The Lucky and the Unlucky

Clay Aiken’s new son may not be the luckiest baby in the world after all.

Food Network’s Tyler Florence and his wife Tolan Clark Florence welcomed daughter Dorothy Tyler Florence on Friday, August 8th at 8:08 am as well. According to Florence’s rep, the new baby girl weighed 9 lbs and was 19 inches long. Dorothy joins big brother Hayden who is 14 months old. The celebrity chef is also dad to a 12-year-old son Miles from a previous relationship.

As I mentioned in a previous blog, in China the number 8 is considered very lucky because the Chinese word for eight sounds similar to the word that means, “prosper” or “wealth.” So you can imagine how fortunate the Hauer family from Fergus Falls, Minnesota must be feeling right now.

No one in the family could have imagined that their newest addition would arrive on the eighth day of the eighth month in 2008 at 8:08 a.m. and weigh 8 pounds, 8 ounces.

According to news reports, Hailey Jo Hauer is being hailed as Minnesota’s luckiest newborn.

Not that the baby girl needed anymore eights on her birth certificate, but one of the nurses joked to reporters that she tried to shrink the baby to 18 inches from her actual 19.5 inches.

Former Bond girl Denise Richards could use some of that luck.

Eight is turning out to be an unlucky number for the actress turned reality TV star as it is represents about as many viewers who are currently tuning into her show “Denise Richards: It’s Complicated.”

Okay, maybe the show has a couple more viewers, but they number far less than the 1.5 million that tuned into the premiere episode.

The bottom line, according to new reports, is that Richards’ reality show is on the chopping block because of low ratings.

The show debuted on E! earlier this year and was an instant hit, allowing viewers a sneak peak into the actress’ life with her two daughters with ex-husband Charlie Sheen. But, now the series is being called a “flop” and insiders say Richards’ behavior is to blame.

One report says the network received complaints following an episode that showed the actress and mother to 3-year-old Sam and 2-year-old Lola using foul language. According to sources close to the show, viewers were disgusted that a mother of two young girls would use such vile language.
