Ear Stapling is just one of many crazy ideas floating around concerning weight loss. It seems as long as a crazy idea exists that prevents someone from actually taking steps and working to lose weight there will be a market for it. But nothing is free, right?
Ear Stapling
Ear Stapling is not free to begin with but the claim is you can lose weight without the hassle. That is except for the hassle of having your ear stapled. Possibly you could pass it off as a fashion statement. This statement can cost about $50 or so and it is inserted into your ear with an ear piercing staple gun. You can only have your little trinket in your ear for three months before your body gets used to its existence and the magic of the staple wears off. Just be certain the facilities and gun are clean or you could risk serious infection. In addition, you are risking nerve damage and permanent disfigurement over a procedure that is unproven. The purpose of the staple is to act like acupuncture. The nerve in your ear that is associated with the stomach is pierced. The claim is that it will decrease your appetite. One woman claimed her appetite decreased in half. However, could that have been due to infection or the severe pain of nerve damage? This attempt to suppress hunger is unproven yet many claim to have felt the effects. Don’t try this in Florida as it is illegal. In many other states the practice is regulated due to the high number of infections. This is not measuring up to good fashion or good diet sense. Even if you were to lose a few pounds, once the staple is out you will run into the same problems that existed before the staple and weight will pile back on.
