The ocean and the many creatures that live under the sea often fascinate children. There are a variety of ways that you can create your own ocean scene. Read on for a few fun ideas.
Finger paint Ocean
You will need:
Blue finger paint or you can make your own using this recipe
White paper
Colored paper
Directions:
1. Place a spoonful of blue finger paint on the paper and let your child smear it around.
2. After the paint has dried cut out paper sea creatures and plants and let your child glue them on your ocean.
Homemade Aquarium
You will need:
1 empty 2-liter soda bottle
water
blue food coloring
foam fish
Directions:
1. Take the wrapper off of the soda bottle and rinse it out.
2. Put in the foam fish.
3. Fill with water, leave about 3 inches at the top without water.
4. Add blue food coloring. Replace the lid and shake to distribute the food coloring.
5. Gently squeeze or shake the soda bottle to watch the fish swim around.
Watercolor Ocean
You will need:
Watercolors
Paintbrush
White Paper (I like finger paint paper)
Sandpaper
Colored paper
Directions:
1. Paint a piece of paper blue with the watercolors. Let the paper dry.
2. Tear the blue colored paper into pieces about 1 inch wide and 2-3 inches long.
3. Glue the torn pieces of paper onto another sheet of paper. Leaving 3 inches blank along the bottom. Overlap the pieces for a wave effect.
4. Cut a piece of sandpaper to fill in the bottom of the paper.
5. Cut out fish shapes, coral shapes, rocks, plant shapes, and other ocean creatures and glue them on your ocean scene.
