Creating a Themed Album – Friends Part Two

As I shared in an earlier blog, I am creating a “friends” album for my daughter to give to her good friend Ashley for her birthday this Saturday. I just spent an hour working on the album and I was able to put together all of the inside pages and line the inside of the Bazzill Zipper Album with coordinating paper. Tomorrow I plan to add photos, some journaling and a few simple embellishments.

Here is what the inside of the album looks like now that I have added the paper lining.

Since the album comes with the chipboard showing, I needed to cover it. I cut the paper to fit inside the album and then ran it through the Xyron machine. The paper that covers the spine goes down first and then the two larger pieces go down. After putting the paper down that covers the spine, I closed the album and put my hand in to rub the paper down against the folded edges of the spine. A glue stick would also be a great adhesive for lining the cover, but I would not recommend using Hermafix because it will peel up.

For the inside pages I came up with a simple design that is playful and came together quickly. The first and last pages will be facing the inside cover and so I used the same paper to give it a unified feel.

I trimmed the 12 X 12 sheets of paper down to fit perfectly onto the white insert sheets that were included with the album. I them cut strips of paper and started placing them onto the larger sheets of paper. I worked on the two pages that will face each other in the album at the same time and made sure that they coordinated. I didn’t put two patterned papers next to each other because I didn’t want the layout to feel too busy. I used Hermafix to attach the paper strips to the base paper.

Once the pages were all put together, I inked around the edges of each page.

This album is coming together quickly and I am excited to work on it again tomorrow!
