Creative Napkin Rings

napkin ring Napkin rings are coming back into popularity, but with a twist. Instead of the old rings that might have been used by your mother or grandmother, today’s napkin rings are full of whimsey. And napkin rings can really turn a boring table into something special. Whether you have a formal party planned or just a casual family dinner, creative napkin rings can set the tone. Here are some ideas. I’d love to hear yours as well.

Wooden drapery rings from your local home improvement store are an obvious choice for somethings that can double as napkin rings. The wooden rings come in different stains and finishes. Or, for something more fun and festive, such as an outdoor party, look for plastic rings. Rings in red, white and blue would make a great Fourth of July BBQ or choose lime green and yellow for a modern summer trend.

Visit your local party store for a bag of oversized gemstone rings and use those as napkin rings. This is an especially fun idea for a princess birthday party for a child or for a casual bridal party. For Halloween, chose spider rings.

A length of small black chain from the home improvement store can be turned into elegant napkin rings. Just cut the chain in the required lengths and fasten the ends together into a ring. Black lends a nice formality, but you could also choose white chain or brass chain. Attach a dangle (such as the kind you might find on a chandelier) for a little upscale bling.

Clunky bracelets found at an accessories store, department store or discount store can make fun napkin rings. Chose colors that compliment your dinner ware and linens. For this look, the wider the bracelet, the better.

And for another idea from the home improvement store, pick up some compression couplings from the electrical department. Spray paint the rings black and add a single delicate white flower to each one for an asian influence.
