Cruising For Color

It’s one thing to view autumn’s rich color palette at a park, resort, or botanical garden. But, to be able to soak in the golden foliage from a ship is an experience like no other. Typically, most travelers shy away from taking cruises in the fall. Many wait until the winter months to board ships that take them to sunny locales. However, winter cruises come with a hefty price tag. By taking an autumn cruise, not only are more apt to find an outstanding rate, but you also get to experience phenomenally beautiful sights along the way.

Here are a couple fall cruise deals worth checking out:

NORWEGIAN DAWN

The waters of New England serve as the meeting place for leaf peepers who want a unique view of fall’s vibrant colors. From just $799, you can set sail round-trip from New York on a 10-night voyage aboard Norwegian Dawn. That’s a savings of nearly 50% off the rack rate. The trip begins on October 4th and takes you to four Canadian destinations Halifax and Sydney in Nova Scotia, Quebec City, and Corner Brook in Newfoundland; as well as two New England favorites – Boston and Maine’s Bar Harbor. Keep in mind the $799 price is for interior cabins only. If you prefer to spend your time in an oceanview stateroom you will be paying about $1300.

NORWEGIAN SPIRIT

This next great autumn sea fling deal comes from Orbitz. Here’s the deal: for $450 you can set sail on a six-night voyage (departing on either October 21 or October 28) to regions that are well known for their spectacular fall foliage. The ship departs from New York and makes stops in Halifax, Boston, Bar Harbor and Martha’s Vineyard. The cruise also includes a day at sea so you can enjoy the vessel’s many amenities. What makes this deal so incredible is that rates on this journey typically start at more than $1000, but if you book now you can now secure an inside cabin for the $450 rate. Prices for an oceanview stateroom are just $549 on the October 28 sailing. If you prefer a balconied unit you will be paying a bit more (but still getting a bargain) at $799.
