Cupcake Stand

This past Sunday I had a Bridal Shower Brainstorming Brunch for my daughters maid of honor and bridesmaids. Everyone is so busy that we really have to schedule a time for everyone to get together and plan these things.

I thought a nice Sunday brunch and a fun afternoon of planning were in order. I made lots of food and bought little cupcakes but didn’t have a cute little way to display them. With no time to run to the store and buy a cupcake stand, I made one.

This is so fast and easy and can be made in different sizes depending on the size and number of cupcakes. Because you are making it, you can decorate it to match whatever event you are having.

Supplies
Cardboard
Scrapbook paper
Empty toilet paper roll
Ribbon, etc to decorate.

First find some round things in your house to use as a pattern. My stand didn’t need to be very big so I used a bowl and an embroidery hoop. Trace the circles onto the back of your scrapbook paper.

Glue the circles to the cardboard, I used hot glue because I was in a hurry but if you have more time you can use any glue. Now cut out the cardboard around your scrapbook circles.

I only needed two levels for my stand so I used one toilet paper roll. If you have bigger or more cupcakes you can use larger circles and put three toilet paper rolls on the bottom to support the heavier top layers, then use one for the center of the second layer.

Wrap your toilet paper tube with scrapbook paper, hot glueing in place. I didn’t try to cut the paper exactly to the height of the roll, I just tucked the extra inside the roll on the ends.

If you want to decorate the edges of your trays, now is the time. I used beads on a string, but you could use ribbon, thin decorative lace or even paper. Hot glue your decorative edge on.

Now glue the toilet paper rolls to the bottom tray, then glue the second tray on top of those.

Top with your cute little cupcakes and your done.

You could even mod podge the layers for more durability if you plan on using it more than once. This took me less than fifteen minutes with a toddler underfoot.

It’s not fine china but it will do in a pinch and people will always notice and comment on how inventive you are.
