Curvy and Healthy

Lately I have been hearing the phrase “curvy” used more and more. Some say it is just a kind way of saying you are fat. But others believe its time to bring back the old-fashioned way of referring to someone who has an hourglass shape.

I think it’s important to get one thing straight. Not everyone is supposed to be skinny. Curves in themselves aren’t bad. But one area that needs to be addressed is the middle.

Belly fat is extremely unhealthy and increases the risk of serious diseases such as cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease. Although you may not like having bigger thighs or arms, your greatest concern should be in reducing the fat around your middle.

So how do you get rid of belly fat? No surprise, exercise and a healthy diet.

Let’s start with exercise. Although many people tend to think that sit-ups can flatten your stomach, cardio actually does more for you. At the same time, you don’t want to dismiss doing core exercises.

Core exercises include not only sit-ups (crunches) but other forms of working the abdomen. You can do a search online to find some or purchase a workout video that focuses on this.

You should also eliminate or greatly reduce the amount of carbs you eat at the end of the day, as they tend to go straight to your middle. If you don’t exercise after consuming them, they tend to pack on. Many fitness experts recommend saving your carbs for the beginning of the day so they can be burned off.

You don’t necessarily need to be thin in order to be healthy. You can be not only curvy and healthy but sexy. In fact, some men actually prefer women who have a little something-something.

Curvy? There is nothing wrong with that. But do what you can to be a healthier you.
