There are so many different craft mediums that I like to use that sometimes I forget about them. I recently saw these cute little felt coasters in the store and thought, I could do that! So here they are and my love of felt is rekindled!
Materials
Felt
Fabric Glue or sewing machine
There are two ways to make these, either with a sewing machine or completely sew free using fabric glue. I used a combination of the two.
First find two different sized circles to trace. I used a plastic food container and a measuring cup. Trace two circle on each piece of felt for each coaster you want to make using the larger circle. Cut them out.
I used yellow felt for the middle sections but you could use white felt or a dark shade of felt for the coaster itself and a lighter shade for the fruit sections.
Cut the smaller circles in half then into wedges. I rounded the sharp edges because I liked the way it looked better, if you like the sections pointy, leave them that way.
Take the coaster pieces and either sew them together or glue them together with fabric glue. I then used pinking shears to go around the edges, you can leave the edges straight if you like. Try it both ways and see which looks better to you.
After the coasters are sewn/glued together put your middle segments on them, if they need to be trimmed, trim them up. I also cut little holes out of a few of them to look like seeds. Glue or sew in place.
That’s it. Quick and easy. Felt is so forgiving you really can’t make a mistake, it’s so easy to fix and there are no raw edges to finish.
Cute little fruit coasters just in time for summer!
