Cute Decorating Idea for the Nursery or Playroom

Your baby may not yet need much stimulation but if your baby isn’t a newborn any more and he or she is beginning to explore, you might be ready to add a few more interesting details to the nursery will stimulate your little one. On the other hand, you might just want to add a little something extra to the playroom. Here is a cute, simple way to do so:

Add a Custom Growth Chart

While there are many adorable growth charts available, it is quite simple to make your own. A really cute idea is to pick up craft paints in colors that coordinate with the nursery and use them to make hand prints up the wall surrounding the door frame. ‘

Alternate the colors and get the whole family into the project so you will have different sizes of hand prints. A simple way to add the measurements is to secure a measuring tape, like the one in your sewing basket, to the wall. You can add ribbon to the sides and ends to make it more attractive. Cut an extra length of ribbon or add a bit of Velcro to hold chalk or a crayon near the top for marking off height.

Instead of hand prints you can also use -or make your own- foam stamps that go with your theme. Stencils of stars or hearts or any other shape will work too, as will removable decals of favorite characters, sports, vehicles, etc.

Nursery or PlayroomUsing letters and/or numbers is also a good idea. You can teach your baby to recognize them when he or she is ready. Start at the bottom left of the doorway and go up, over, and down the other side, with the letters of the alphabet. Use one color for the letters and add other colors with accents, or alternate the colors as you go.

If you don’t want to paint directly on the wall, you can use stiff, heavy fabric, poster board, or craft foam, all of which can be easily taken down at a later date.
