Cute, Simple, Artwork for the Nursery

If you are expecting soon, you will probably be treated to a baby shower. If you have already had a shower, you can still use some of these ideas, such as gathering up the cards you received, and asking a family member or a close friend for her invitation. If you haven’t yet had a shower, remember to keep one of the plates and napkins from the party, if it has a baby theme printed on it.

These items will help you to not only create simple artwork and save money, but they are also a great way to capture special memories that you can share with your child later. As your child grows and you change out the artwork, save these items to give your child when he or she is older.

The easiest way to create artwork from baby shower invitations or cards is to simply frame them. Choose cute frames in colors that coordinate with the nursery’s design plan or those that have baby motifs. Make a grouping to hang on the wall, or use frames with easels and group them on a nightstand or dresser.

Another way to use these items is to create a collage. You can find large frames with collage matting. They have several openings in which one usually places photographs. Instead of photographs slip in images from cards. Glue little bows, diaper pins, favors from the baby shower, or dye-cut scrapbook images in baby themes to the matting for effect. Return to the frame, and hang it up.

Another option is to make cute plaques. This works great if you need some smaller art pieces for a narrow wall or other small space. Just paint squares of craft wood (or any shape you like) and decoupage the card cover, invitation, or napkin from the baby shower to the wood once dry. Add a picture hanger to the back and you have instant and adorable artwork.
