The wedding season is here. With the rising costs of almost everything in our society, many try to cut back on the costs of their weddings by doing some of the work themselves. While it important not to take on so much that you create a very stressful day for yourself on your wedding day, there are a few ways that cutting down can easily be done.
Decorations
Consider doing the decorating yourself. In most areas the new wedding style is keeping it simple. Huge flower decorations and candelabras are not nearly as popular as they once were. Try using large pillar candles and/or clear Christmas lights for a romantic effect. Check friends and family members who have flower gardens. Mixed live bouquets can add a very elegant effect. A new trend in weddings that has also simplified is the bridal bouquets. Many brides and bridesmaids are now carrying simple stems of flowers instead of florist made bouquets. These bouquets can be simply made yourself by tying a ribbon around three or four flower stems.
Music
Instead of hiring out a band or someone to play an instrument, consider searching for talented friends or family members. There are many talented, nonprofessional singers out there. You can also try recording your own music. With new technology, your own downloads or prerecorded music can sound great.
Reception
Try making some of your own reception foods or asking friends and family to help out. Many grocery stores now carry frozen foods that are great to serve at occasions like this. Pinwheels, cheese cubes and crackers, frozen fruit (thawed out) and dip, and even just plain chips and dip work well. There are also many very good and simple punch recipes.
Weddings are moving from a high cost, all out event to more casual and relaxed. Do not feel that your wedding has to be expensive to be gorgeous.
