Today is Cyber Monday, the biggest shopping day for online purchases across the country. For those of use who may not have braved the Black friday crowds, or just those of use who want to pick up a few new deals, this is the day that the Internet bargains can be found.
But are the bargains really all that the hype makes them out to be? Is there a promise of a good deal? well it depends. I have been looking at the cyber deals pretty carefully since they were posted online last night. for many online retailers, Cyber Monday really begins on Sunday.
What did I find? Well, there are still some good bargains in the hottest areas, such as HGTVs and other electronics. But you’ll really have to hunt to find anything like the limited offerings available during Black Friday. The Black Friday HGTV TV that was offered at Circuit City and sold out within the hour is now back up, but with a price tag that is $300 more than the Black friday price. The upgrade to that model is still available at a good price, but it isn’t as great a deal as you might hope.
Many of the Cyber Monday deals are focused on free add ons and free shipping, rather than bargain prices. still, if you are shipping a large item or doing a lot of online shopping, these deals can be great bargains.
Clothing seems to be the best bet for Cyber Monday sales. Retailers, such as Eddie Bauer and JC Penny are offering some great discounts when you shop on line, and they are combining those offers with free shipping.
Look for good deals on toys, too, as buyers have been shying away from purchasing many toys, due to the rash of recalls. Instead, many parents are buying electronic toys, video games and computer games, and yes, more clothing. As retailers get more desperate, watch for toys prices to drop, and bundles to be offered.
What are you buying online today?
