T-minus eight days until Father’s Day. Fortunately, now that school’s out for the summer you shouldn’t have any problem finding extra hands to help craft the perfect Father’s Day gift—a Daddy and Me scrapbook.
If you are short on time and talent, then consider purchasing a Dad-themed scrapbook kit which you can fill with personalized photos and sentimental journaling blocks. If you have older children, then consider creating a memory album from scratch. When you make your own scrapbook you can customize it to fit your dad’s personality and you’ll end up with a one-of-a-kind keepsake.
Your personalized Daddy and Me scrapbook can include “Favorite Things” layouts featuring your pop’s taste in movies, music, hobbies and books. You could also create a “Day in the Life” page design with photos of dad spending a Saturday hanging out at home with the rest of the family barbequing, mowing the lawn or catching some zzzz’s in his favorite recliner.
In addition to photos and other embellishments, such as die cuts, stickers, and stamps, consider adding some memorabilia. Cut out headlines from newspapers or write about some current events that are taking place during the summer of 2011. You can use the items to accent an “All About Dad” page in which you record different aspects about dear ol’ dad. For example, have all of the kids list dad’s five best characteristics. You could also create a list of Top 20 things you want to do with dad in the coming year and incorporate it into the page design.
Another option is to ask dad some personal questions and work the answers into a layout. Sample questions could include:
1. What’s the most important lesson you learned as a teen?
2. Name five people who have influenced you the most?
3. What failures have helped shape you into a better man?
4. What’s the best part of being a dad?
5. If you won a million dollars, what would you do first?
Simply type up and print out a copy of dad’s responses and attach them to your layout or use them as instant scrapbook journaling content.
