What happened to spring? It has been pushing 90 in my neck of the woods for the past three days! While the very warm weather encourages me to eat less (which is certainly a good thing), it also instills in me an overwhelming desire to do nothing at all, save for lying on top of my bed, underneath the ceiling fan – on full blast!
My neighbor stopped by today. He is the president of our Civic Association, of which I am the treasurer. He needed an account update to read out at the next association meeting, as I will be a recent new dad (more on that in a moment) and not in attendance. During our brief chat, he mentioned that his in-home weather station predicted a rainstorm for later on in the evening. That was enough to warrant a sweat-drenched, late afternoon date with my lawn mower (while listening to the new Dinosaur Jr record “Beyond”). Less than two hours after I finished the backyard, the heavens opened up and soaked our town – complete with an impressive lightening show that we watched from our dining room while dinner was “cooking”. Dinner tonight was to be something grilled, after all we bought a fair share of meats at Whole Foods today, but with the looming storm overheard we remained in the house and boiled water. The pot of hot aqua was the bulk of my culinary undertaking this Saturday night. It was for the Annie’s Organic Mac-n-Cheese we enjoyed, along with sandwiches – roasted turkey on toasted bagel, with pickle spears. It was quite a yummy dinner for a hot, hot day.
So, my 2nd little girl is still inside my wife’s ever-expanding tummy, but I have already started my time-off from work. If the baby does not come out on her own, my wife will be induced on Tuesday the 29th. Wish us luck!
Needless to say, Dad’s Losing It will not be posted this coming Tuesday.
Until next weekend!
