Date Night on a Budget

So, you don’t have a ton of money, but you’d really like to spend some time together and get out of the house. There are some things you can do to stay within your budget while still getting out to have some fun with each other.

Movie Discounts

Check with local movie theaters in your area to learn about discounts. Many offer matinees on Saturday or Sunday afternoons, and some also have “cheap movie night.” Around here it’s on Tuesday. Aside from discounted times to visit the show, don’t forget to ask about discount programs. Some movie theaters have passes that allow you go so many times for a certain rate when you pay in advance. Others offers passes that are marked each time you visit, and after so many visits, you’ll be entitled to a free movie.

Restaurant Discounts

You may be able to find a coupon book that covers restaurants and other attractions in your area. If you don’t like to do the coupon thing, check the specials for the week at your favorite eatery and see what’s good and affordable on which evening. Many restaurants offer great deals on special meals to draw customers. Seafood is often offered on Fridays and steak, prime rib, ribs, and other meat entrees are generally available on Saturdays. Don’t forget that “date night” doesn’t necessarily have to be at night. Try a “date day” and check out local establishments that offer lovely yet generally affordable Sunday brunches.

Visit an Arcade

Grab a roll of quarters or a ten dollar bill. For ten bucks, you and your honey can have a lot of fun playing video games, ski-ball, pulling prizes with the crane game, playing pinball, or maybe even shooting some hoops or a couple of games of pool.

*You might have to make that $10 each once you remember how much fun it is!
