Dates You Can Have At Home

Too often, married couples with children can find getting out of the house an onerous chore. You have to arrange for babysitting, juggle schedules and commitment and it can make even the most enthusiastic couple sigh with the headache of it all.

The great thing we also forget is that we can have a stay-at-home date and still get quality time out of it. So here are some ideas to help you dress up a stay-at-home date where your ingredients are love, laughter and loosening up together.

  • Play trick or treat together – seriously, dress up in a fun outfit and seek a treat from your spouse
  • Play Twister! The last time I did this, I forgot how much fun it was – not to mention it’s a lot harder to play as an adult – requisite laughter included
  • Get a white tablecloth and put it on your outdoor table after dark – especially on a nice evening – light some tiki torches with citronella to keep away the bugs, add some cheese and chocolates – share an intimate evening dining by firelight
  • Weather not good for an outdoor picnic? Spread out a blanket on the floor in the living room, prop yourselves up on some pillows and make it a rule that you have to feed each other
  • Do a crossword puzzle together – the challenge can invigorate you both
  • Take a cross-section of your favorite music and make up a CD that you can both enjoy
  • Host a Wine Testing – pick up some bottles of fun or cheap wines – sample the flavors and offer your own palated opinions – if you don’t like alcohol – choose a selection of fruit drinks or alcohol free wines

What kind of dates have you had at home?
