We all have a little voice inside that tells us things, usually things we don’t want to hear. When it comes to dating pay attention! That voice is trying to tell you that the guy you think is just too hot is not the right guy for you. On the other hand, it might be telling you men that the ultra-sweet girl you are getting ready to ask out for the second time is not quite as sweet as she seems.
People can manage to be on their best behavior during a quick meeting to make plans or even during the first one or two dates. However, you should begin to get a sense of the person before too much time has passed.
Yes, you are a good judge of character, even if you have made mistakes in the past (who hasn’t?). Those mistakes tend to occur because we don’t listen to that little voice. Just think about it for a minute. If you’re honest with yourself, you knew deep down that your last fling was a jerk long before you let yourself get dragged into an emotional relationship, didn’t you? And, guys, you knew that Miss Priss was far from being the perfect girl for you, but since she was fun and pretty, you dated her anyway.
The question we have to ask ourselves is “Why?” Why do we settle? Is temporary loneliness too much to take? It can be very depressing. However, in time, we learn that it’s even worse to be lonely while in a relationship than it is to be lonely on our own.
Does that make sense? If the person you are dating doesn’t feel much like a companion, a friend, someone to share your life with, it’s just not worth it to give of yourself when you’re not getting anything from the relationship. Relationships are two way streets and you do deserve to be happy. You don’t have to settle.
