Recently I was very shocked to come across an article written by man who was offering tips on his success at having multiple partners. While I do not feel that his advice was worthy enough to share with you, his story did begin a line of thinking for me.
Can it really work to have multiple mates?
I think that dating several different people can be a tricky situation. There must be some guidelines in order to keep peace and sanity.
First, I think that the dating must be done for fun and companionship and not for the intentions of lifelong partners. It would be very difficult to have a serious relationship with more than one person or while dating other people.
Second, I believe that honesty is also important. Trying to hide the relationships or dating from the other mates would be extremely stressful and complicated. When you first consider dating someone, be upfront with him or her and let him or her know that you are not looking for a relationship with one person. Make him or her aware that you are already dating other people. In addition be honest about when you are dating others. If someone calls for a date and you already have plans, be honest about it. Making up excuses and lies will only likely get you caught in the end.
If you plan to date others, encourage your mates to also date other people. Be supportive of their other dates. This way everyone can feel that they are on the same level in the relationship and no one feels that he or she is being abused.
I think that one of the hardest parts about dating multiple people would be that after some time someone is sure to develop feelings that require more than casual dating. Along with these feelings will come jealousy.
