Dating Tips

The first rule of thumb when asking for dating tips is there are definite pros and cons to many of the choices that can be made on a first date. It is usually safer on a first date to meet at a neutral location rather than picking someone up. While it may lack a bit of romance, meeting in a neutral location offers conversational topics, something to do and a place to retreat to when and if either one wants to end the date. The idea is not that it will be needed, but that it is available if it is needed.

Also, a first date doesn’t have to be a picturesque post card. One dating tip is to choose a mutually enjoyable activity for the first date. If that means going out to a movie together, meet at a nearby Espresso Shop, go to the film and then come back to swap opinions afterwards. If it’s dinner, don’t choose an exclusive restaurant unless that’s to the style of the person you are inviting. You want to make the other person comfortable, not wary of using the wrong fork or feeling underdressed.

If the first date goes well, to get a second date, a good rule of thumb is to call. Express your enjoyment over the previous opportunity and interest in repeating the experience. One dating tip that often sees good results is for parties to take turns deciding on where they are going.

A baseball game one Friday evening and the symphony the next might not seem to be typical dating events, but how about a night at Dave and Buster’s and another at a Japanese Steak House? Variety is the spice of life and when it comes to dating tips, many will agree that one of the best parts about dating someone are the new experiences it can open you up to.

However, it’s worth mentioning as the last dating tip here, that if you genuinely dislike something like the symphony or opera or whatever is on the table, a dislike so intense that you know it will not be worth an evening spent with your date, then make sure that’s on the table too. Misery doesn’t suffer silence, if you’re not going to have a good time; your date is going to figure that out. If you want to give it a shot because maybe you would enjoy it better with them, by all means, go for it!
