David Letterman and Danica McKellar Get Married, but Not to Each Other

There must be something crazy going on in the air of Celebrityville because couples are getting married left and right. There was singer Natasha Bedingfield and Matthew Robinson, who tied the knot on Saturday, as did actor Bruce Willis and his model girlfriend of a year, Emma Herning. Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen are still celebrating their recent nuptials. Then of course, there was the engagement announcement (finally!) of Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart.

Now, another shocking marriage has occurred – David Letterman. Oh sure, David had been married once before (to Michelle Cook, from 1969 to 1977) and had been in a long term relationship (with former head writer/producer of his show, Merrill Markoe), but it seemed that the late night king might never marry again. After all, he had been with girlfriend Regina Lasko since February 1986. Letterman said, “I had avoided getting married pretty good for, like, 23 years, and I — honestly, whether this happened or not — I secretly felt that men who were married admired me … like I was the last of the real gunslingers, you know what I’m saying?”

Well, the old gunslinger turned in his firearm this past week as he and Regina decided to make it official while at their Montana ranch. They kept it simple, getting married in a courthouse ceremony, but it almost seemed as if the big cowpoke in the sky wanted to keep Letterman single for just a while longer. On the way to the courthouse, the couple’s truck got stuck in the mud and Letterman had to walk two miles back to the house – in 50 mph winds! But, Letterman got another car, picked up Regina and son Harry and made it to the courthouse in time.

Danica McKellar, you may remember her better as Winnie Cooper from “The Wonder Years,” also got married this past weekend. Danica and composer Mike Verta married in another low-key ceremony on Sunday. The couple exchanged vows in a La Jolla, California church by the ocean before 150 guests. Her fellow castmate and real life sister Crystal McKellar served as the maid of honor while Dan Lauria and Allie Mills, who played Kevin’s parent on the show, were also in attendance.
