On Wednesday, February 29, 2012, Davy Jones passed away in Florida from a massive heart attack. Fans all over the world are mourning and wishing his family well. The 66-year-old singer, actor and celebrity will be missed especially by the generations who grew up with the Monkees, either when they first appeared ion television in 1966 or throughout the years in reruns.
Jones is best known for his time with the Monkees and such hit songs as “Daydream Believer,” and “I’m a Believer.” Many fans remember his guest appearance on the hit 70’s television show, The Brady Bunch.
Beside the legends of fans, Jones leaves behind his third wife, actress-dancer Jessica Pacheco-Jones and four daughters from previous marriages. He also leaves behind his Monkees cast mates, Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork, and Michael Nesmith.
“Can’t believe it…Still in shock…had bad dreams all night long,” Dolenz wrote in response to fans on Facebook. “My love and prayers go out to Davy’s girls and family right now…”
Mike Nesmith wrote, “David’s spirit and soul live well in my heart, among all the lovely people, who remember with me the good times, and the healing times, that were created for so many, including us. I have fond memories. I wish him safe travels.”
“It is with great sadness that I reflect on the sudden passing of my long-time friend and fellow-adventurer, David Jones,” Peter Tork wrote. “His talent will be much missed; his gifts will be with us always. My deepest sympathy to Jessica and the rest of his family. Adios, to the Manchester Cowboy.”
With Davy Jones passing, so passes an era.
