It’s a done deal. Despite the death of their beloved father George Osmond, the Osmond siblings (plus 120 other family members) will appear on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” as planned.
Donny Osmond told TV’s “Entertainment Tonight” that after much thought the family decided to go through with plans to appear on the legendary talk show host’s show. Osmond revealed that Winfrey sent a private jet to Provo, Utah where the family had gathered following the news of patriarch George’s death. More than 125 Osmond’s boarded the plane to Chicago where they will tape a reunion episode tomorrow. According to Donny, the show will air Friday; the same day the family will lay George to rest in Utah.
In addition, ABC announced that Marie Osmond will continue to compete on “Dancing with the Stars.” In fact, her pro partner Jonathan Roberts told TV’s “Access Hollywood” that he plans to meet Marie in Chicago where they will continue to train for next Monday’s show.
Fans can expect to see some of Marie’s fancy footwork on Oprah’s show Friday. A publicist at Harpo, Winfrey’s production company, told reporters that in addition to showing off her new dance moves, Marie will perform the theme song from “The Donny and Marie Show” with her brother, Donny, as a tribute to their father. Donny is also scheduled to sing his pop hit “Soldier of Love” on Winfrey’s talk show.
No deal for Rosie O’Donnell…
So much for the former talk show host’s plan to go head to head with Larry King.
The acerbic former “View” co-host who unceremoniously left daytime TV in the midst of controversy just announced on her blog that talks to give her a primetime show on MSNBC had fallen apart.
O’Donnell wrote the development was “just as well,” and added in her trademark haiku style: “poof/my career as a pundit is over/b4 it began.”
The proposed deal would have given O’Donnell the 9 p.m. slot on the cable channel and pitted her against CNN’s “Larry King Live” and Fox News Channel’s “Hannity & Colmes.”
What’s your reaction–are you glad Rosie won’t be headed to MSNBC?
