Denise Richards Leaves DWTS While The Woz Dances On

It seems like an alternate universe – hot mama Denise Richards is the second cast off of the current season of “Dancing with the Stars” while pudgy Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak scores low but continues on. But, that is exactly what happened on reality television this week.

Denise, whom I had read was hoping to up her public image after her openly hostile spat with ex Charlie Sheen and her own reality show (turns out it wasn’t so complicated I guess), earned extra points Tuesday night when she and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy did the samba, but it wasn’t enough to save her. Of course, Denise herself said that if she wasn’t on the bottom after her Monday night performance, she would be “shocked.”

She did land in the bottom against fellow hottie Holly Madison and her partner Dmitry Chaplin. The two couples had to do the dreaded “dance off,” as Holly had feared. Denise scored higher, but it was Holly and Dmitry that were saved.

It seems that it is the home voters that are saving 58 year old computer nerd Wozniak. In face, even Steve was surprised that Steve was saved this week. After all, his score of 10 Monday night was the lowest in six seasons. When he was told he was safe Tuesday night, he wiped tears from his eyes as the audience cheered. Steve said, “I watched the audience and there was a huge response and even the other dancers were so nice and responded so nicely. It was the biggest emotional shock I can remember. All the air comes out of you. I couldn’t believe it.”

Cheryl Burke told PEOPLE that this was just a reminder that fan votes do matter. Also offering support – at a price – was fellow competitor comedian David Alan Grier who said, “I’ll vote for him if he give me a new Mac computer.”

While the hope of receiving a free Mac is minimal, it doesn’t stop the 60,000 members of VoteWoz.com, with founder Chris Harrington calling Steve’s dancing “real entertainment.”
