At the cats-only boarding facility, we share a building with the cats-only vet who owns us… and a few other businesses. Next door to the vet side of the building is a Little Gym. Throughout the day on any given day, kids and parents on their way to the Gym will stop and peek into the windows to see the cat (or cats) in the playroom. Once in a while, parent and child will come inside to see the kitties. I’m always happy to show them around.
This week happens to be Animal Week at our Little Gym, so we’ve had an influx of visitors.
On Monday afternoon, an entire class of Little Gym kids and instructors came for a tour. My coworker S. picked out the friendliest cat to be the star of the show — this big lug of a cat flopped out and let all the kids pet him. He even gave kisses!
A pair of moms with three kids were peeking into the playroom on Tuesday morning, but there was nobody in there (we’d just cleaned and mopped, and the floor was still wet). I poked my head out the front door and invited them in. I showed them the main boarding room — they were pretty impressed with the two room condos our guests stay in — and pointed out which cats were feeling friendly and which cats weren’t. Of course one of the cranky cats immediately made a liar out of me and gently rubbed her face against one mom’s fingers!
Another young visitor this week went around to each cage and asked me the name of each cat — and then told them all to his mom. Super cute! I’m pretty impressed at how many names he remembered.
I do like it when folks from the Little Gym stop by to say hi… they don’t have to wait for Animal Week to come up as a theme again! It’s always good to have a visit from another cat lover.
