Diary of a Cat Care B&B: More Snapshots

I really enjoy my work at the cats only boarding facility. It gives me a chance to get out from behind the computer and get moving — I’ve actually gone down a pants size since I started working there in December! All that cleaning is good for me.

Here are some more funny moments from work!

Mushy Shoes…

Timing is everything in comedy, right? I was feeding a cat the other day and had just delivered a big bowl of mushy food. Something must have startled her, because she took a flying leap and ran for the little room where the litterbox sits. As she launched herself into motion, she kicked the mushy food right out the door of the condo… where it landed on my foot. My shoe was covered in it. My sock was covered in it. My pants were covered in it. (But when I got home, Moose and Lally took care of the clean up and licked both shoe and sock clean.)

Graceful Like a Cat?

A younger cat named Noah was rubbing up against the door of his condo, looking for affection. Who can resist a kitten? I immediately went to open the door… and he fell right out of his condo. He was leaning so hard against the door that he lost balance! (Good thing it was a bottom condo, huh?)

Feeding the Feral Cats…

This one didn’t happen to me, but to a coworker. But it’s a great story! We bring leftover food outside for the few feral cats in the area. There are two feral cats who come to eat most often — a grey male and a calico female we call Mama who used to bring kittens with her until we caught her and spayed her. My coworker T. was bringing the food outside for the feral cats and was calling them to come eat. She paused to peek into the little igloo that’s out there for the cats on rainy days… and out came a raccoon! The raccoon was walking on his back legs, waving his arms in the “gimme” motion. T. dropped the food and beat feet back to the boarding facility.
