At the beginning of the summer, someone called the cats-only boarding facility hoping to find her lost cat. She was staying at a nearby hotel and the cat had slipped out when someone had come to the door. (It’s all too easy for this to happen, as I learned when I was on my cross-country trip with Moose and Lally!)
We promised to keep an eye out for her cat — a grey kitty with big blue eyes. Since we leave food out for the local feral cats, we often get other wanderers stopping by for a nibble.
But months went by, and we didn’t find him. Honestly, I forgot all about it… but my awesome coworker S. remembered.
Then Silver showed up. He matched the description we were given, and we thought that we might have finally found the missing hotel kitty! The hotel gave us the owner’s number and we gave her a call.
As it turns out, she already found her kitty just two weeks before our stray Silver showed up. That’s one happy ending!
We started to spread the word about Silver. We posted to sites like Craigslist and Petfinder, hoping that someone would turn up to claim him. Silver had been wearing a flea collar when we found him, so he must have belonged to someone at some point in his young life. (Our vets estimate that he’s around six months old.) No luck with our “found pet” ads.
Awesome coworker S. to the rescue again! She was busily telling all her friends about sweet Silver, and convinced one friend to come visit the boarding facility and meet with him. It was love at first purr! Silver will be going to his new home as soon as he’s neutered. He’s already gotten a check-up and a clean bill of health from the vet side of the building.
That makes two happy endings!
