You may have guessed it hasn’t been the best few days. I got some potentially good news the other day, and instead of using the time to busy myself with some projects I needed to complete. I dove into cookies…and pie…and way too much bread. And now the scale reveals my “slip.”
I’m not that concerned, truth be told. Today I got back on my healthy eating plan and I feel good. However, I will say that if you eat “badly” for a few days, going back to healthier eating with smaller portions feels a bit like starvation. My body has to adjust again to less sugar. No, I’m not a 300-pound linebacker and I don’t need to eat like one—but my stomach disagrees. J
Here’s where I usually quit. I throw in the towel, admit defeat of the worst kind and search for my looser clothing. But not this time. Nuh-uh. This time I’m moving forward. This time I’m getting back on track. This time I’m thinking about exercising this week rather than giving up altogether. This time is DIFFERENT. Because this time it’s not about some fad program—it’s about life changes. And life changes are difficult but possible.
I made a veggie tray today to munch on all week. That way, instead of reaching for crackers or sweets or anything else for that matter, I can grab something from the tray. No, it’s not going to taste the same, but having an alternative does help. And I made a yummy yogurt dip to go with it. I’ll include the recipe below. Tonight I’m making salmon. I’m going to grill it. You may remember that I’m not a fish fan, but this one is pretty tasty. I marinated it in hoisin sauce, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, olive oil, salt, honey, and orange juice. I’m going to serve it with green beans. If you’re looking for a tasty meal, give it a try. Yum.
How was your weekend? Did you eat “right?” Did you give in to those oh so sweet temptations that lure us into naughtiness? If so, I hope you’ll jump back on the bandwagon with me. Don’t give up this time. Make this time different for you too.
