In case you’ve been following my blog and wondering where I’ve gone, let me tell you. I’ve been on vacation. No, not the glorious vacation I’m dreaming about right now—the one that consists of me, alone, on a deserted beach with only a book, a basket full of fruit, and a thousand dolphins in my site. I’m talking about a weight loss vacation.
Life got the better of me the past few weeks. I needed to decompress. Sometimes we all need this. Women today wear a lot of hats. Sometimes those hats can weigh us down and sometimes, they even make us topple over. So the past week, I’ve been reinventing my priorities. I’ve given up a few freelancing jobs, tried to make a productive plan for each day, and I’m even planning on reading tonight—for pleasure.
Where does my “diet” plan fit in to all of this? It fits at the top. Because I started something good. I lost five pounds this month. No, it’s not enough to go down a size or to claim “victory,” but it’s more than I lost last month. And it needs to continue, for my health rather than for my waistline.
There is a direct correlation between my moods and my diet. If I allow myself to consume too many carbohydrates, too much chocolate, too much fat, or too much of anything really (since moderation really is the key), my body feels heavy, weighted down even. I trudge along through my days and have little energy to accomplish the things that need to get done.
So today, after my sabbatical from weight loss, I’m back—I’m on the wagon again. I’m ready to do some serious work and yield some serious results. The weather is cooling down and this mama wants to look good in her jeans this winter.
How about you? Did you take a health hiatus? Hope you’ll renew your own goals and join me once again. Drop me a line—I’d love to hear from you!
