For several days now entertainment news shows and various publications have been reporting about a 911 call placed to authorities by a man claiming to be Heather Locklear’s doctor saying that the actress was suicidal.
Earlier today the emergency call, which was placed last Saturday evening, was made public. In it a male caller is heard telling 911 dispatchers: “I have a patient and I have a feeling she’s suicidal. And I would want someone to go [check on her].”
The man also referred to an incident at Locklear’s residence that made him worry about her safety.
In any event, 911 dispatchers sent emergency crews to the actress’ home Saturday night (which, of course, made headlines), but according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, “deputies took no further action because no one at the residence was in distress or needed medical or mental-health emergency assistance.”
Meanwhile, Locklear’s rep went into overdrive trying to diffuse the situation that was gaining steam on the Internet following the arrival of emergency crews at her client’s home.
Shortly after an ambulance left Locklear’s home on Saturday the former “Melrose Place” star’s rep issued this statement:
“[Heather] is fine. She never requested medical assistance and did not place a 911 call. Nor did anyone from her house call 911 or place a call requesting medical assistance.”
So what gives?
Sources close to Locklear say the entire situation was blown out of proportion. Apparently, the actress whose boyfriend, actor Jack Wagner was reportedly with her when authorities arrived was talking to a friend and was “bummed about something” and the person who called 911 overreacted.
According to the source, “Heather’s doing great” as is her 10-year-old daughter with rocker Richie Sambora.
As for authorities they say they don’t believe the caller was “lying or fabricating the information provided at the time.”
So what do you think? Do you really believe Heather Locklear would try to take her own life?
