We didn’t have a white Christmas but it was a merry one. Quiet, but nice. I hope yours was wonderful.
Did you have snow?
We didn’t have so much as a flake, but we were okay with that. In fact, it was sunny and must have been about 50 degrees on Christmas. My husband and I sat outside on our deck for a while and he cooked our Christmas ham on the grill.
Imagine my surprise yesterday, when the early morning sunshine turned to heavy clouds and cold winds around noon. Imagine my greater surprise when huge white chunks of very wet, heavy snow began to fall as the sun went down. I couldn’t believe it was sticking but my kids sure were excited!
It was perfect snowball snow, the kind that packs together tightly instead of that crunchy stuff. Good snow for forts and building snowmen.
It’s still out there this morning but it is beginning to melt a bit. I guess I better get bundled up so I can go outside and play it in with the kiddos before it’s too late. We may not get more, as some years we have had very little if any snow. The old saying goes that if you don’t like the weather in the Ozarks you should just hang around; it will change quickly enough.
My husband noted that we were a bit late for a white Christmas but my youngest said, “It’s still our Christmas snow.” She then proceeded to grab him by the hand and drag him outside to throw some at him.
For right now, all seems well in our world. The presents are opened, the leftovers are dwindling, there’s snow on the ground, a new year will soon begin, and we’re all healthy and happy. I hope you and yours are too.
Did you have a nice Christmas? Have you had any snow to play in yet?
I’m off to find my warm gloves and make sure there’s plenty of hot chocolate. Have a great day!
