Earlier this week Microsoft released their newest operating Microsoft Vista to millions of anxious computer users. People camped out outside of electronics and computer stores to count themselves as one of the first to have the newest operating system on their PC.
Have any of you upgraded to Vista?
I’ll admit I am one of the masses who upgraded to Vista. In my defense however my “upgrade” was really my first use of any type of Windows operating system on my computer. I recently purchased a MacBook Pro, which can use Windows and OSX. I hadn’t installed Windows on my computer because…well, I saw no need to. I attended a Microsoft event earlier this moth however and was given a copy for free. Free copy? I might as well install it.
If I hadn’t received a copy for free however I don’t know that I ever would have gotten it. Maybe. I have a copy of Windows XP I had planned in installing on my computer soon, I would have more than likely installed that and been a happy Windows camper for quite some time.
The system requirements for Vista make it so a good portion of the population can’t upgrade to the operating system without first giving their home computer a good overhaul, or hauling it to the local dump. Which is what prompts the question: How many people actually upgraded?
Even for those who upgraded I can’t imagine getting so excited about the operating system that I would camp out outside of my local electronics store in anticipation. I may be in the minority with this because there are very, very few things that I would camp out for. Even though I am a self described computer dork Vista is definitely not one of them.
So, How many of you upgraded to Vista this week? If you upgraded how do you like it? What made you opt for the switch?
