Dieting Styles: Read a Book

Here is a list of the top 7 weight loss books that I recommend for anybody who is serious about losing weight:

1. Body for Life. Bill Phillips is The Man when it comes to helping people transform their bodies. He’s helped millions of Americans change their bodies and their lives with the Body-for-Life program. This book provides you with everything you need to plan meals and workouts but there is also a companion website at www.bodyforlife.com and several companion books.

2. Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. This book gives you everything you need to jump start the Atkins Diet, continue indefinite weight loss and maintain your weight loss. There are also several companion books.

3. The South Beach Diet. This too is a stand alone book but there are several supplementary companion books available.

4. Enter The Zone. Everything you need to get into the Zone is in here. If you have trouble getting creative with meals, there are plenty of companion cookbooks available.

5. Suzanne Somers’ Eat Great, Lose Weight. My mother-in-law swears by this one. Everything you need is in this one book but Suzanne has also provided companion books for those who like to live well with desserts, appetizers and chocolate (which is, to dieters, its own food group). There are also companion books that provide motivation and, of course, Suzanne’s own story.

6. The Mediterranean Diet. There is no doubt that Mediterranean food is fantastic for you. It is heart healthy with lots of fish, olive oil and nuts and has loads of fiber and vitamins with fresh vegetables and fruit. If you enjoy Italian, Spanish, Moroccan and Turkish cuisine, this is definitely the diet for you. If not, do not buy this book.

7. French Women Don’t Get Fat: The Secret of Eating For Pleasure. If you can’t live without chocolate cake, bonbons, rich sauces and dressings, this book will tell you how to find a balance. There are no companion books and the author won’t give you a daily menu to follow but the tips and tricks are worth the time spent reading them.

The most important thing to remember about choosing a program that you can live with is:

If you can’t stand the food, get out of the diet!

There are always plenty of others to choose from!
