It’s Monday evening and while the week is just getting started and you know just how busy you are going to be. This close to the end of the school year, many married couples with children are going to be running on empty quit a bit. Myself included.
Once upon a time, finding time together with your spouse was natural. We came home from work and evening time was spent together. More often than not, this is not the case anymore. Work days are longer. Responsibilities can be crushing. There seems little energy left over at the end of the day to make an evening together anything more than falling into boneless sleep as soon as we are able.
The following are simple, easy to execute, ways to share dinner and movie together – even on the busiest of nights.
- Go out for pizza rather than ordering it in – this gives you and your spouse as well as your children some quality time together, but remains relatively inexpensive
- For couples, skip going out to a movie and go to a place that offers live entertainment – whether it’s a comedian or musical group – the expense might be little bit more, however the experience will be a little more unique
- Choose a television show and pick up a season on DVD, spend an hour each evening after the kids are in bed watching it together. You can get several nights out of this
- Try stargazing at a local planetarium with or without the children – the music, the sights and the sounds can be invigorating
- On the weekend, go out for a matinee and brunch – expensive restaurants and theaters are much more affordable in the morning and you can enjoy the time without being overtired
