This week’s dinner discussions are based on lesson fifteen for Senior Primary and up. Nursery and Junior Primary lessons are based week fourteen. Remember to keep a positive attitude while reviewing the lessons. This should never be a time when you talk to a specific child about specific trials.
If you have a child in Nursery he learned about Adam and Eve. The lesson talked about the creation, and Adam and Eve’s role in the creation. The children learned that they were created in the image of Heavenly Father. You may want to talk about how you are grateful for your body.
If you have a child between ages four and seven she learned about the Word of Wisdom. The children learned about types of food they should eat. They also learned what substances they should avoid. The children learned about the benefits and blessings of following the Word of Wisdom. You may want to review the Word of Wisdom with your children. You may also want to emphasize the point that our bodies are a gift, and that we should take good care of them.
If you have a child between ages eight and eleven he learned about Jesus using his priesthood power to help others. The specific stories taught include Jesus stilling the storm, walking on water, feeding five thousand and healing the boy with the unclean spirit. The children then discussed ways that the priesthood blesses their lives. The children were encouraged to learn Article of Faith five. The assigned reading is Mark 4:35-41.
If you have a child who is twelve or thirteen she learned about Wilford Woodruff. The students learned several stories about times that President Woodruff showed that he was faithful and true to the gospel. The students were encouraged to apply those same principles to their lives. The lesson focused a great deal on being missionaries.
All member fourteen and over learned about the adulterous woman, and how Christ forgave her. The lesson also focused on how applying Christ’s teachings to our lives will help us to gain a testimony of Christ. The lesson also discussed how Christ is a light to the world. Next week’s reading is John 9-10.
The young women learned about temple marriage. The young men learned about keeping covenants. The Priesthood and Relief Society lesson varied from ward to ward. Since it was a fifth Sunday the bishop determined the topic Next week’s lesson will be determined by your individual presidencies.
