Dinner Discussions 2007 Week 16

This week the dinner discussions are based on lesson sixteen in the Sunday School manuals, and lesson fifteen in the Nursery and CTR manuals. You may want to adjust your discussions according to the schedule that your ward is following. Remember that this is a time to reinforce the principles discussed at church. In order to be most effective you should keep the discussion upbeat and positive.

If you have a child in Nursery he learned about the importance of the Sabbath day. They learned that the Lord took a day of rest after creating the earth. You may want to review the story of the creation briefly. You can talk about activities that are appropriate to complete on the Sabbath as well. It is important to stress that the Sabbath is a day to honor the Lord.

If you have a child between the ages of four and seven she learned about the Book of Mormon. The lesson shared the story of Angel Moroni visiting Joseph Smith and telling him about the Gold Plates. The lesson then talked about Joseph Smith translating the Gold Plates. You may want to discuss this with your children this week.

If you have a child between the ages of eight and eleven he learned about some of the miracles that Jesus performed. The lesson covered the healing of the man with palsy. The children also learned about Jesus raising Jairus’s daughter from the dead. The lesson also covered the woman with the issue of blood. You may want to review these stories with your children. The assigned reading is Mark 2:1-12.

If you have a child who is twelve or thirteen, she learned about Lorenzo Snow. The lesson covered Lorenzo Snow’s early life. The children learned about his early life and his love of learning. They learned that Lorenzo Snow was compassionate and cared about others. They learned of his strong commitment to the gospel

For all members over the age of fourteen the lesson was on Jesus healing the blind man. The lesson also covered the verses when Jesus teaches that he is the good shepherd. Next week’s reading is Mark 10:17-30; 12:41-44; Luke 12:13-21; 14; 16.

The young women learned about keeping journals. The young men learned about tithing and other offerings. The Relief Society and Priesthood lesson topics were determined by individual presidencies. Next week’s lesson is chapter nine in the Spencer W. Kimball book.
