This week’s dinner discussions are based on lesson twenty-three for those in Senior Primary and older. The Junior Primary’s lessons are based on lesson twenty-two. You may need to adjust your discussions to match your ward’s schedule. Remember to keep your discussions upbeat and positive.
If you have a child who is in Nursery or Sunbeams he learned about all the things that he can do. He learned that Heavenly Father can help him to do things. They learned about David and Goliath and that with the Lord’s help they can accomplish anything. You may want to review the story with your family.
If you have a child between the ages of four and seven she learned about the Atonement of Jesus Christ. The students learned about how Jesus suffered in the garden of Gethsemane. The students then discussed the gift of repentance. The children also learned about Alma the Younger and the sons of Mosiah. They learned that you can repent and turn your life around. You may want to review these stories with your children, and talk about repentance as well.
If you have a child between the ages of eight and eleven he learned about parable of the Good Shepherd. The children also discussed Jesus blessing the children. They discussed how much Jesus cares for each one of us. The children were encouraged to memorize John 10:11. The assigned reading for this week is John 10:1-18.
If you have a child who is twelve or thirteen she learned more about President Heber J Grant. The lesson emphasized the need to have faith in the Lord and keep the commandments. Once we realize our dependence on the Lord and ask in humility, He will help us to accomplish the tasks we need to in this life. You may want to talk to your children about these concepts.
For all members fourteen and older the lesson focused on the events surrounding the Last Supper. The lesson discussed Jesus instituting the first Sacrament. The lesson also discussed the Savior washing the Apostles feet and the need for each of us to love one another. The lesson also discussed that it is only through Christ that mankind can be saved. Next week’s reading is John 16-17.
The young women learned about the blessings of fasting. The young men learned about preparing for a mission. The Priesthood and Relief Society lessons were based on talks from General Conference, but varied from area to area. Next week’s lesson will be determined by your individual presidency.
