Dinner Discussions 2008 Week 20

This week’s dinner discussions are based on lesson twenty in the manual. The Primary lessons are one week behind. In the summer months you may want to extend the discussions to include a theme that you work on as a family. These themes could be fun activities or projects that you work on during the summer days or you could choose to make them much more spiritual.

If you have a child in nursery or Sunbeams he learned about being thankful for his eyes. The lesson discussed the many things that we can see. It also pointed out that the beautiful world is a gift from Heavenly Father and that when we see beautiful things, they can remind us of Him. You may want to discuss this with your children.

If you have a child who is between four and seven she learned that Jesus loves her. The children learned the story of Jesus and the children in Mark, as well as Jesus blessing the Nephite children. The lesson also taught the children that they can demonstrate their love for Jesus Christ by keeping the commandments.

If you have a child between the ages of eight and eleven he learned about the Anti-Nephi-Lehis. The children learned that they buried their weapons of war and refused to defend themselves against their attackers. The assigned reading is Alma 24:6-27.

If you have a child who is twelve or thirteen she learned about the importance of gaining a testimony of the gospel. The lesson talked about how to gain a testimony. It also talked about the importance of strengthening your testimony. It also talked about the blessings that a testimony can bring to your life.

For all members over the age of fourteen the Sunday school lesson was based on Mosiah 25-28 and Alma 36. The lesson focused on Alma the younger leading people astray. The lesson then talked about the angel coming to visit Alma and the sons of Mosiah and their repentance. Next week’s reading assignment is Mosiah 29 and Alma 1-4.

The young women learned about missionary work. The young men learned about tithing. The Priesthood and Relief Society lesson topics were determined by individual presidencies. Next week’s reading assignment is chapter 11 and it is about the mission and destiny of the church.
