Dinner Discussions for Week 32

This week’s dinner discussion are based on lesson number thirty-two. As you review the lessons with your family keep the mood light and fun. Your children will respond more positively to a show and tell environment rather than a testing type environment. You also may want to start with your youngest children since they tend to have a shorter memory.

If you have children in Nursery or Sunbeams, they learned about being thankful for food and clothing. They talked about the different types of food and where they come from. They also talked about how clothes were made. They learned that these things were a gift from Heavenly Father. You may want to make your child’s favorite dinner as you review this lesson.

If you have a child between the ages of four and seven, they learned about loving one another. The stories used to illustrate this were “The Last Supper,” “The Ten Lepers,” “Feeding the 5,000,” and “Jesus Blesses the Nephite Children.” They were encouraged to show love to others this week. You may want to praise your children as they show others love this week.

If you have children between the ages of eight and eleven, they learned about Rehoboam and peer pressure. Rehoboam was the son of King Solomon. He chose to ignore the counsel of the wise leaders and instead did what his friends decided. This caused Rehoboam to lose most of the kingdom. The lesson then goes on to discuss times when the children might feel peer pressure and how to respond. The assigned reading is 1 Kings 12:1-20.

If you have children ages twelve through fourteen, they learned about the great worth of each individual person. The class talked about the gifts of the spirit. They also talked about different talents that people have. They talked about how they should use their gifts and talents to help build up the gospel. You may want to talk about gifts and talents that each family member has.

For all church members fourteen and older the Sunday school lesson was on Job. The discussion talked about how Job reacted to his trials, and how he was blessed for enduring. This story can be a great example to all people.

Young Women learned about personal purity. Young Men learned about tithing. Priesthood and Relief Society learned about the importance of preparing our families for eternal life.
