Dinner Discussions Week 44

The dinner discussion topics are pulled from lesson forty-four in the manuals. You may need to adjust according to your ward’s schedule. Remember to keep the discussions positive and as fun as possible. This is a time reinforce the principles they have learned, and you should do it in positive way.

If you have a child in nursery or Sunbeams she learned about how she can help at church. The children learned about Nephi building the boat and how he needed his family’s help to complete the task. The children learned about the different people who help at church (the bishop, the Aaronic Priesthood, the Primary president). The children then discussed ways they can help at church. You can easily extend this to helping in the family as well.

If you have child between the ages of four and seven he learned about being kind to animals. The children learned about Noah and the Ark. They learned about how the Lord wanted to save all the animals from the flood. They also discussed the creation and how the Lord created all of the animals. The children then discussed the importance of being kind to animals. You can carry this discussion on at home talking about you care for the family pet.

If you have a child between the ages of eight and eleven she learned about tithing by studying the words of Malachi. The children discussed the blessings that are promised when you pay your tithing. They also discussed the importance of paying an honest tithing. You can extend this discussion by preparing your children for tithing settlement. The assigned reading is Malachi 3:8-12.

If you have a child who is twelve or thirteen he learned about the importance of learning about their ancestors. They discussed the importance of temple work. They also talked about ways they could learn more about the lives of their ancestors. They also talked about the importance of keeping personal records and journals.

For members fourteen and older the Sunday school lesson was about the importance of the blessings of the temple. The lesson was based on the teachings of Ezekiel. The lesson stressed the importance of attending the temple often. It also talked about how the temple provides a chance for many to heal.

The young women learned about the importance of using time wisely. The young men learned about becoming a better home teacher. The Relief Society and Priesthood lesson was taken from the talks given in the last session of General Conference. The topics may vary by unit.
