Before you call the Disneyland Jobline at (800) 766-0888 or the Walt Disney World Jobline at (407) 828-1000, you’d better take a look in the mirror and make sure you’ve got the right look. That’s right. Not just any schlub can get a job working for Disney.
Following are the appearance guidelines for Disney employees. If you can’t meet them then you shouldn’t bother applying.
Disney employees are expected to have a clean, natural, polished and professional look. Trendy and extreme don’t cut the mustard at Disney so let your Mohawk grow out before you try to get a job at this company. Don’t bother trying to play the discrimination card either. According to the folks at Disney, “just as an actor or actress would wear a costume themed to the character they are portraying, you wear a costume that supports your role as well. Choices in appearance that do not support that role are unacceptable.” It is as simple as that!
Here are some things to consider when looking in the mirror:
Men and women:
Disfiguring or deforming body alterations that detract from a professional image like tattoos, body piercing, earlobe expansion, tongue piercing or splitting and tooth filing are prohibited.
Men:
Go easy on the jewelry. Only one ring on each hand and a watch are permitted.
Multicolored hair is a no-no. Hair should be cut above the ears and not touching the collar in the back. It should be one natural color and the style must be blocked and tapered.
The goatee and chops need to go. Beards are not allowed and sideburns cannot extend below the ear lobes. A mustache should be neatly trimmed and not extend below the corners of the mouth.
Women:
Ladies should go easy on the jewelry as well. Only one ring on each hand is permitted, with the exception of a wedding set. A single watch is also allowed. Only one earring in each ear is permitted. They may be either clip-on or pierced but must be worn on the bottom of the earlobe. Hoop earrings must be small (no larger than a dime).
Don’t get too crazy with the hair products. Hair should be neatly combed and arranged in a classic style. Extreme styles are a no-no. The color must be natural looking and appropriate to your skin tone. (Going goth won’t get you an interview.) Subtle highlighting is permitted but don’t go crazy. Don’t pull a Ms. Spears. Shaving of the head or eyebrows will get you the door.
Make-up must be in natural tones only. Nail polish must be either clear or a flesh tone cream color. Dragon lady nails are not condoned. Nail length may not exceed 1/4 inch from the fingertip.
