Disney has recently initiated recalls on three products that Disney fans and visitors should know about.
“Cars” Backpacks, made in China and sold at Target department stores from February through September of this year for $13 each are being recalled for the magnetic game pieces in them. The magnetic pieces are not child safe and, if swallowed, could lead to blood poisoning and even death. If you’ve purchased one of these backpacks, please be sure young children do not have access to the magnetic pieces and return the backpack to your nearest Target store.
Baby Einstein Discover and Play Color Blocks, model numbers 30726 and 30881, made by Kids II Inc are also being recalled. These toy blocks were made in China and are contaminated with lead paint. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the blue paint on them contains excessive lead. If you have these blocks, please don’t allow young children to play with them and be sure to return them to the retailer from which you purchased them.
Disney is in the process of independently testing 65,000 toys featuring its characters that were made in China. According to a spokesperson, approximately 80 percent of Disney toys are made in China.
If you’ve recently visited Walt Disney World and purchased Minnie’s Bake Shop cookies you’ll want to pay attention to this next one. Disney is recalling packages of chocolate-chip cookies that were sold at Walt Disney World because cookies containing macadamia nuts were mistakenly put inside packages labeled Minnie’s Bake Shop Chocolate Chunk Cookies. These cookies were sold at Walt Disney World from Sept. 18 through Oct. 2, 2007. For most of us, this is not a big concern and could be a very pleasant surprise but for those allergic to nuts, it could be a catastrophe. A UPC number of 400136148117 can be found on these packages. If you have questions about these cookies, please call 1-800-435-4499.
