Disney World might be ending its decades-long Grad Nite event this year, but that doesn’t mean execs want to miss out on all the revenue brought into the park by partying seniors. In an effort to retain its status as a popular stop for high school kids celebrating their matriculation, Disney World announces its Grad Nite replacement: the Disney Senior Class Trip.
Instead of offering a few nights toward the end of the school year during which the Magic Kingdom turns into a seniors-only party destination, Senior Class Trip options are available year-round. Anyone who is a high school senior can purchase discounted tickets to the park.
Even more possibilities await groups of seniors or even entire senior classes. Two options are available: special “enhancements” to a Disney trip, and “signature events” that function as a part of the whole experience.
Yes, the distinction made between “enhancements” and “signature events” is thin and confusing. Here’s the gist: the former are just little bonuses added to a Disney World vacation, perks that are available for any Disney World guests but that are offered to seniors at a special discount. The latter are special parties put together specifically for the Disney World Senior Class Trip.
Three enhancements are available: the “Early-On Experience,” “IllumiNations Dessert Party at Epcot,” and the “Fantasmic Patio Reception at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.” For the first, groups pick one of the parks within Disney World and a select attraction from that park, and they get to go on that ride in the morning before Disney World is officially open. Breakfast is also included.
The second option is rather self-explanatory; seniors get to watch the IllumiNations Epcot display while enjoying a special dessert party. The menu offers brownies, cookies, and ice cream, but can be upgraded. The final enhancement lets seniors have a private patio in Disney’s Hollywood Studios for viewing the Fantasmic Show. They can choose to have either a dessert or dinner party while there.
Just like for the enhancements, there are three different signature event parties from which seniors can choose: the “Villain Party at Club Evil,” a themed dance party, and “Dinoland Party.” The themed dance party takes place at a private venue with a D.J., an Italian-style menu, and the possibility of attendance by Disney characters.
Fans of the Disney Villains can have a party attended by them en masse, with costume options for the guests. The decor of the club will reflect the theme, and the menu includes villain-inspired beverages. Large groups of seniors have the option of a Dinoland Party, which is for 200+ people only. Held after hours at the Animal Kingdom, it includes a D.J., 1.5-hour dinner buffet, and beverage service. Depending on the size of the group, select attractions may be open for the party.
Prices for all of these options of course vary depending on which enhancements and/or signature events are selected. For more information, including a contact number to learn more about and book a Disney Senior Class Trip, visit the official website here.
