Disney World Planning & The Big Family

My family and I are in the midst of planning our next vacation to Disney World. Our last vacation was a trip for three, two parents and one child. Our next trip will be a little more complicated and require a great deal more juggling because this will be a vacation with four adults and two kids.

A Trip for Six

Six people planning a vacation to Disney World is completely doable, but you need to consider your accommodation, park tickets and more. One tricky part is we want to stay at the Animal Kingdom again, but the standard room can only accommodate four people so either we get two standard rooms or we book a larger room such as a suite or a bunk bed room.

A bunk bed room would give us two queens for the adults and a set of bunk beds for the kids to sleep on. Still, six in a room is going to be tight quarters and the great thing about Disney World is there is always something for everyone to do whether you are joining forces in exploring the parks or splitting up to see different things on different days.

Family Vacation with Your Family

Disney welcomes guests with a very warm and familiar, “Welcome Home” and as I spent nearly thirty minutes on the phone with Disney reservations working out all the potential vacation package combinations we can think of. I love their website and the interactive features that give you plenty of ways to book your trip, but it’s also great to talk to a reservations agent who can make suggestions and share their own viewpoint.

The harder part will be whether we get to stay in one of the more moderate or deluxe resorts or if we travel a more frugal path that parks us at one of the value resorts. I like the value resorts a great deal, but I also love the Disney travel options such as using their buses and the monorail. The drawback to riding the Disney transport at the value resorts is the sheer number of guests who will be sharing that bus with you.

If we stay at a value resort, we’re going to have to rent a car and we don’t want to have to rent a car. Still, we’re wrestling this back and forth and as soon as we settle on the details that will work, I’ll be sure to let you know more about trip planning for six.
