The Fort Wilderness Resort is mainly a campground but there are also some great cabins available for campers. Not only is the Fort Wilderness Resort affordable for the average family but it brings all of the very best pastimes to camping while housing you within Walt Disney World itself.
There are several recreation areas at Fort Wilderness where you could easily spend your entire vacation:
The Meadow Recreation Area is in the center of Fort Wilderness and gives guests access to bike trails and waterways. At the Bike Barn, you can rent bikes (of course) as well as tennis and volleyball equipment, fishing gear, boats and even electric carts. There is a trading post where you can purchase groceries, beverages, beer and wine, and gifts.
The Settlement Recreation Area is on the edge of Bay Lake and is the home of Pioneer Hall (home of the Hoop-dee-doo Revue. A petting farm and horseback riding stables are available in this recreation area along with a beach, marina and a trading post.
Accommodations at Fort Wilderness vary from basic tenting campsites to fully equipped cabins.
Creekside Meadows is also available for group tenting and is located in a less developed area. There are comfort stations, fire pits, charcoal grills and a recreation area. You can rent tents and cots and even purchase firewood here.
Campsites have 110/220 volt outlets, parking for one vehicle each, a picnic table and a charcoal grill. Air conditioned comfort stations with private showers, ice dispensers, restrooms, a laundry room and telephone are located nearby.
Partial hook-up sites with electricity and water are available for tents and pop-ups.
Full hook-up sites with sewer, electricity and water are available for RVs.
Preferred sites with sewer, electricity, water and cable are also available for RVs.
Wilderness cabins are one bedroom cabins that will sleep six with one double bed and a set of bunk beds in the bedroom and a Murphy bed in the living room along with a sofa. These cabins each have a fully equipped kitchen, microwave, dishwasher, a dining table for six, air conditioning, a full bath, two color TV’s with cable, a telephone and daily housekeeping services. There is also an outdoor deck with a picnic table and charcoal grill as well as parking for one vehicle for your convenience.
