Although this isn’t a luxury resort, it was part of Walt Disney’s dream to be able to provide accommodations for families on every size budget. Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort (formerly called Dixie Landings) is the second largest moderately priced resort at Walt Disney World with over 2,000 guest rooms. There are two parts to this resort: Magnolia Bend and Alligator Bayou. Magnolia Bend is designed to look like two and three story mansion homes while Alligator Bayou has two story, cottage style buildings.
Most rooms at this resort have two double beds each and accommodate up to four adults comfortably. The rooms at Alligator Bayou have two double beds and a trundle bed for kids under five feet, accommodating up to five people. Every room has a ceiling fan, two pedestal sinks, a television, a table and two chairs, a dresser and a bathroom with bathtub/shower, toilet and a retractable clothes line.
The only room service available at this resort is from 4pm to midnight from Sassagoula Pizza Express. Boatwright’s is a family restaurant that offers casual and buffet dining for breakfast and dinner. The Colonel’s Cotton Mill food court is open from 6am to midnight and offers several varieties of fast foods. The refillable mug program is also available at the food court here. This resort also has a lounge, pool bar, arcade, general store that sells convenience foods and gifts, a self-service laundry as well as valet laundry service, in room babysitting, six pools, a kiddie pool, a jacuzzi, a playground for kids, fishing excursions on the river and even surrey bikes for rental.
As with all Walt Disney World Resorts, bus service is available for guests to all other Walt Disney World properties and parks. Guests here may also take advantage of Extra Magic Hours and E-Ride nights.
