Disney’s Star Wars Weekends

Last weekend marked the 30th anniversary since Star Wars: A New Hope premiered on movie theater screens. I actually remember that weekend, it was the first movie my mother ever took me to see. I called her to say thank you. A few years later, when Disney-MGM Studios in Florida premiered their Star Tours Adventures, my grandmother drove a 1,000 miles out of her way on the spur of the moment to take me to the parks for a day trip – just so I could go on the ride.

Star Wars Fans

This June, Star Wars fans will enjoy the Star Wars weekends to be featured at the Disney-MGM Studios every Friday through Sunday from today until June 24th. This is an annual science fiction festival that invites Disney guests to dress as their favorite Star Wars characters, carry their light sabers and even bring along their droids to roam through out the park. There will be celebrity appearances from the films, a Hollywood style motorcade and even photo opportunities and autograph sessions.

You’ll see cast members dressed as Queen Amidala, Greedo, Darth Vader, Kit Fisto and so much more visiting throughout the parks. Children, hopeful young Padawans, will even have a chance to experience the Jedi Training Academy. They will train with a Jedi Master, they will wield a light saber and they can even test their skills in a climactic final battle.

So whether you’re looking to wear your Star Wars costume, take a ride on Star Tours, engage in a trivia contest and so much more – the next three June weekends are the weekends to visit Disney-MGM Studios. Don’t worry about additional cost, the Star Wars weekend activities are all included in your regular park admission. I could only wish I’d known about this a bit sooner, maybe next year!

Will the force be with you this weekend?
