Well, at least this time she was wearing underwear.
Last night, in what some are calling a “career comeback,” Britney Spears returned to the stage to perform in front of hundreds of screaming fans at the House of Blues in San Diego.
The 14-minute set that featured her hits Baby One More Time” and “Toxic,” comes after the pop princess took an eventful 3-year break, which featured a marriage, a divorce, the birth of two children, and a stint in rehab.
According to news sources, Tuesday’s show was highlighted by Spears’ “shaking and slinking around.” It also included a costume change from a barely-there white mini-skirt and pink bikini top to a white fur jacket and denim skirt. Witnesses also say Spears donned a long dark brown wig and a black headband.
Of course, most of the buzz from last night’s mini-concert swirled around the fact that Spears lip-synched her way through her entire five-song set. Fans who paid upwards of $125 a ticket complained that the show was “disappointing.”
Okay, let’s take a minute to examine these remarks:
People complaining they didn’t get their money’s worth because Spears lip-synched.
What did they expect? Come on people. This is the same mother of two who just spent the past few months making headlines for chain-smoking and partying until the wee hours of the morning. She may be 25, but I’m sure her lungs work about as well as a 66-year-olds. How could you possibly think that she could shake, slither, AND sing… at the same time? She was probably so busy trying to keep her wig on (so as not to expose her fuzzy head) that lip-synching was a challenge in and of itself.
And for those fans who moaned about having to shell out $125 a ticket, consider this: none of us knows the details of her divorce settlement to K-Fed… for all we know she was forced to give him millions so he wouldn’t use her pantyless partying ways against her during their custody battle. Seriously, your girl could be headed to the poor house and your complaining about $125?
So to all you of Spears fans who are looking forward to seeing her perform live in the next few days (Spears is reportedly planning to perform at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California tonight, the Los Angeles House of Blues on Thursday and the House of Blues Las Vegas inside Mandalay Bay on Sunday) remember this: she’s bald and could be broke—give her a break!
