In my post on hybrid homeschooling, I talked about combining homeschooling with distance learning or local classes. Here continues the list of Distance Learning Programs you can use.
Richard Milburn High School (Wisehighschool.org) is an accredited higschool where homeschoolers and distance learners can earn a diploma. Through a partnership wih APEX Learning of Seattle, WA, advance placement students can take accelerated courses. This school is “committed to enabling each student to maximize learning opportunities to achieve success and increase skills in the academic and work experience environment by offering a non-traditional academic, career and life skills program.” Students pay $425.00 for each internet course.
Royal Academy The mission of Royal Acadmy is to that “All students deserve the right to explore, based upon their own dreams, ideas, passion areas, and ambitions.” Royal academy works to keep parents involved in the educational process through building a team of parent, teacher/ supervisor, director, and staff. This program flexible when it comes to granting credits for previous work. Tuition is $600-$800 per year depending on grade level. Royal Academy boasts a long list of colleges that have accepted its students.
SeaScape Educational Center & Malibu Cove Private School offers home school programs for both elementary grades, PreK- 8th, and high school and believes in tailoring the program to the child. Seascape student can continue their education with Malibu Cove Private School which offers high school programs for grades 9-12. Malibu Cove gives high school diplomas. This program includes career kids which help students prepare for the future. Prices start at 600 per person per year.
Sycamore Tree Center for Home Education “Sycamore Academy was the first school and catalog specifically for homeschoolers in the nation.” Credentialed teachers help choose curriculum and monitor progess. Sycamore tree is an accredited Christian homeschool center. Tuition starts at $1100 a year.
Time4Learning (Compass Learning Odyssey for homeschoolers) can be used as a full homeschool program for lower grades, or a supplement. I have personally used this approach and can best explain it as having as much fun as possible while learning. This is an animated instructional site. This is a subscription site costing approximately $20.00 a month at time of printing.
Trent Academy Trent is a computerized, internet-based, world-wide-web, classroom. The program also “has special programs to assist homeschool families with gifted and talented children.” Placement is based on a test. Costs start at $524.each and is affiliated with the HSLDA.
